Privacy Notice

What Mindful Digest collects when you read, request newsletter updates, or allow analytics, and the choices available to you.

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Scope and contact

This notice covers Mindful Digest at https://tryoniriva.com, including reading the publication, its newsletter signup form, security checks, and optional analytics. You can read without creating an account, giving us an email address, or allowing analytics.

For privacy questions or requests about information collected through this site, contact privacy@tryoniriva.com. The Cookie Notice explains storage on your device and includes the control for changing your analytics choice.

When you visit the website

Cloudflare delivers the website and helps protect it against abuse. Serving a page involves processing technical request information, which can include your IP address, the requested address, browser information, and network or security signals. This delivery and security processing is separate from optional Google Analytics.

The site also remembers your analytics choice in your browser and uses temporary browser storage to restore your reading position during navigation. Neither requires a newsletter signup. The newsletter database does not store your browsing history.

When you request newsletter updates

Submitting the newsletter form asks us to record your interest in future Mindful Digest updates. The current service saves signup requests; it does not send a newsletter or confirmation email when you submit.

A successful new signup creates a record in Cloudflare D1 containing:

  • your email address, with surrounding spaces removed and letter case normalized;
  • an internal record number and subscription status;
  • the signup form source and the version of the signup consent wording;
  • the dates and times the record was created and last updated.

These fields record the requested signup and help avoid duplicate entries. Submitting an address already in the database does not create another record. We do not sell newsletter addresses or use them to build advertising audiences.

The signup database does not store the Turnstile verification token, your IP address, or a copy of the full request body. This does not mean that the hosting and security providers receive no technical request data.

Protecting the signup form

Cloudflare Turnstile checks whether a signup appears to come from a person rather than automated abuse. The form activates this check after you focus the email field or try to submit. Your browser communicates with Cloudflare for the check. Cloudflare describes processing signals such as IP address, browser information, connection characteristics, and the website where the check takes place.

Our server sends the resulting verification token to Cloudflare for validation before saving a signup. It does not add your email address to that verification request. The security check operates independently of your analytics preference; declining analytics does not turn it off.

Cloudflare acts on the website operator’s behalf to provide this protection and also processes signals for its own work improving bot detection. Its Turnstile Privacy Addendum explains these roles and the information involved.

Optional analytics

Google Analytics loads only after you choose “Allow analytics.” We use it to understand which pages readers visit and which reading contexts lead to an accepted newsletter request. Choosing “Use necessary only” keeps this measurement off.

Our analytics events use the site origin plus a canonical, known path and omit query strings and fragments. Unrecognized paths are reported as /404/, and external referring pages are reduced to their origin. Page-view events include the page title and, for articles, the article identifier and category. An accepted-signup event includes the signup location and, when available, the current or most recently viewed article in that browser tab.

We do not include your newsletter email, verification token, or subscriber record number in these events. Google’s tag may also process cookie identifiers, device and browser information, referring pages, and network information as part of its analytics service. Analytics is therefore not a promise of anonymous browsing.

You can change your choice through the Cookie Notice. Turning analytics off stops further measurement by this site’s Google tag; it does not erase information already sent to Google.

Services that receive information

Cloudflare provides website delivery, the D1 database holding signup records, and Turnstile verification. Google provides the optional analytics service. These services have different roles: storing a signup record is separate from evaluating a security request or producing a usage report.

Providers operate international infrastructure, so information may be processed outside your country. This notice does not promise storage in a particular country. For the providers’ handling of information, including their own processing and international safeguards, see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Links to books, research, and other external websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. This notice covers Mindful Digest, not those external sites.

Retention and security

Signup records currently have no automatic expiry or scheduled deletion period. They remain in the signup database unless removed. The website does not yet provide an account dashboard or an automated unsubscribe or deletion page; use the contact address above to ask about a record or request its removal.

Browser storage has a separate lifetime, described in the Cookie Notice. Clearing that storage does not remove a signup record or information already held by a provider. Google Analytics retention depends on the property’s settings and the type of data; its controls for individual event data do not apply in the same way to standard aggregate reports. See Google’s data-retention explanation.

The site uses HTTPS and validates signup requests on the server, including checking verification tokens before writing to the database. The subscriber list is not publicly accessible through the website. These safeguards reduce risk, but no internet service can guarantee complete security.

Your choices and privacy requests

Newsletter signup and analytics are separate choices. You can decline either and continue reading. To withdraw analytics permission on this browser, use the preference control in the Cookie Notice.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to the use of personal information, obtain a portable copy, or complain to a relevant data-protection authority. Contact privacy@tryoniriva.com about a request concerning this site. Include the email address relevant to a newsletter request and only the details needed to explain your question.

Changes to this notice

This notice describes the service currently available. Changes to newsletter delivery, providers, or data practices may require an updated notice. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
